Frequently Asked Questions
Below are a few frequently asked questions about what we do and how it works.
Do you work on Petrol cars?
Yes, absolutely! While we are regarded as diesel specialists, we are fully qualified and equipped to work on all petrol vehicles as well.
The core principles of advanced diagnostics, testing electrical circuits, analyzing sensor data, and tracing complex faults apply across all engine types. Whether you drive a diesel or a petrol vehicle, you will receive the exact same high level of precision and expertise.
Why does my battery keep going flat? Do you test Batteries
Yes, we test batteries and complete systems! A flat battery isn't always just a bad battery, it could be a faulty alternator not charging correctly, or an electrical component draining power while the vehicle is parked (known as a parasitic draw).
Instead of just selling you a new battery that might go flat again next week, we perform a full electrical system test. We check the battery's health, measure the alternator's charging output, and trace any hidden electrical drains to find the true cause of the problem.
Do you perform mechanical repairs?
Yes! While we specialize in diagnostics, we also handle basic mechanical repairs and routine maintenance.
Once we find the root cause of an issue, we can take care of the everyday fixes right here so you don’t have to visit another garage.
How long will it take to diagnose my fault?
Most electrical and mechanical faults can be accurately pinpointed within an initial 1 to 2-hour diagnostic window. During this time, we connect our advanced diagnostic equipment, test circuits, and verify component readings.
Because we specialize in diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults, we don't guess—we test.
So if we discover a fault is a more complex or intermittent issue that requires deeper teardown or extensive wiring tests, we will stop and discuss our findings with you before booking any additional diagnostic time. You are always kept in the loop!
Doesn't a fault scan/computer tell you what's wrong?
This is a common misconception! Scan tools don't actually diagnose your vehicle; they simply read data from the car's on-board computer.
When something goes wrong, the computer flags a "fault code" indicating that a specific component or electrical circuit is operating outside of its normal parameters.
It is up to a qualified technician to perform physical tests, measure voltages, and check mechanical components to pinpoint whether it's a broken wire, a failed part, or an ECU fault.
Diagnosing the code instead of the cause is how unnecessary parts get changed.
I just want to know what the fault codes are. Do you do just a fault scan?
Yes, we do simple fault scans with no diagnostic work or advice for customers who just want to know what faults codes their vehicle has.
This usually takes around 15 minutes and you receive a printout of all Vehicle systems scanned and the faults present in each ECU.
Can I bring my own parts?
Respectfully, no. We do not install customer supplied parts.
We cannot guarantee the quality, correct fitment, or warranty customer supplied parts. This means if the part fails or doesn't work you would have to pay the labour costs all over again to remove and replace it.
To ensure your vehicle is safe and reliable, we only install components sourced through our trusted suppliers.
Also, think of a workshop like a restaurant: you wouldn't bring your own steak and ask the chef to cook it for you.
Do I need to book in advance, or can I drop my car off anytime?
Yes, we highly recommend booking in advance.
Because diagnostic work and mechanical testing require dedicated time, booking ensures the technician is ready to focus on your vehicle the moment it arrives.
While we always try our best to accommodate urgent situations, working by appointment guarantees you get a dedicated slot and helps us get you back on the road faster.
